Best EDC Flashlights | Fenix UC30 2017 Edition
Thank you for joining me. My name is Brad and I’m a member of the Fenix-Store team. I’ll be providing an overview of the newly upgraded Fenix UC30! The new 2017 edition light kept true to the original with its sleek and compact design. This new light is now 1,000 lumens and still fully rechargeable at only 5 inches long and 0.9 inches in diameter! It has been given a Cree XP-L HI LED and has a throw distance of 830 feet which is far superior to the previous model and allows for a more balanced beam of spot and flood light. It features a toughened ultra-clear glass lens with an anti-reflective coating.
Fenix UC30 Review
This new pocket sized Fenix rechargeable flashlight will come with a Fenix 2600 mah rechargeable battery that you charge inside the light itself with the included micro USB cord however, you can substitute two non rechargeable CR123’s as a replacement. If you do end up using the non rechargeable 123’s then you will sacrifice some of the runtime but at one point or another the battery will die on you so having those as a backup are ideal. The Fenix UC30 has a maximum runtime of 150 hours and also features a luminous green rubber boot, a battery indicator on the power button and even a lock out function making this high powered flashlight a must have for your EDC collection. The lockout function prevents any accidental powering on while it is in a bag or even your pocket and you activate this feature by double clicking the button on the side. It also has an intelligent memory circuit which means it will remember the last used setting and will turn back on in the same setting you turned it off in. To check battery levels all you do is single click the side button while the light is off and it will either display red or green for 3 seconds to show your battery status.
This new addition to the Fenix family has 5 output modes plus a strobe function.
Eco: 5 Lumens for 150 hours
Low: 50 Lumens for 28 hours & 25 min
Med: 150 for 8 hours & 45 min
High: 350 Lumens for 3 hours & 20 min
Turbo: 1000 Lumens for 1 hour & 25 min
Strobe: 1000 Lumens
The light itself has one button on the side for turning it on/off and will be the same button to select the desired output setting. This EDC flashlight is IP68 rated so it is submersible up to 6.5 feet for 30 minutes. As I mentioned previously this light is very compact at 5 inches long and weighing in at just under 4 ounces with the battery inside so it could easily fit in a purse or handbag, glove compartment, nightstand or on your waistline with the included holster.
